Nurturing

After a long swim I peel my nails back from my wet wrinkled skin to find orange juice and seawater sun lying just within the horizon line

I stick it in my mouth to taste the warm sound of nursery toast and buttered rhymes

Somewhere a lime meringue collapses

How beautiful it is to be loved like this.
